Food For Thought Pg 2

Crude oil is the primary source of petrochemicals which are used in the manufacturing of industrial chemicals. Industrial chemicals are used in the manufacturing of home furnishings. As a result, home furnishings contribute to indoor air pollution by releasing toxic vapors (aka off-gassing) of industrial chemicals into our living space.

Industrial chemicals are also used in the manufacturing of these additives: flame retardants, plastics, formaldehyde (used to make glues) and dyes to name a few. These additives are used in upholstery (furniture covering), foam padding, composite wood (artificial), paints, carpets and carpet backings to name a few. The vast amount of toxic industrial chemicals used in the manufacturing of home furnishings goes far beyond unconscionable.

High humidity can intensify vapor exposure from home furnishings that contain or are made with adhesives. Home furnishings advertised as waterproof or stain-resistant are highly likely to be off-gassing endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Industrial chemicals are ubiquitous and literally poisoning the life out of us; for profit, at our expense and with our cooperation.

Choose to detoxicate, it’s a form of self-restraint – a partial but persistent boycott on our part (society at large) of toxic home furnishings. Reduce off-gassing by purchasing home furnishings made of solid wood or certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). Most homes and apartments are built with toxic building materials. So, toxins are impossible to completely avoid.

This is why purchasing nontoxic home furnishings is so important; they help us reduce our body’s toxic burden. IMO, the daily inhalation of toxic chemicals from off-gassing home furnishings plays a part in reducing our lifespan by many decades. This reduction in lifespan can happen when chronic inflammation develops in your lungs or weakening of the immune system unfolds, thereby triggering the risk of severe illnesses.

Practicing detoxication can cause the profitability of the Home Furnishing Industry (HFI) to plummet to an unhealthy level. Such a blow to the HFI’s bottom line would force them to detox home furnishings at their expense for our well-being.

We have all been conditioned to fear pain, and programmed to believe that it’s nothing more than a symptom of an illness or injury inflicted on the body. That lie is easier to believe than the fantastical truth — pain is the start of our body’s healing process. It is our body’s way of communicating with our brain that tissue damage has occurred and that the repair process has been initiated.

Numbing pain via pain medication effectively disrupts the body’s alarm and repair system. Pain medication inhibits inflammation, which is the painful first step and a key part of the immune system’s response to tissue damage. The body’s healing process won’t start without the pain of inflammation.

Inflammation targets and isolates the damaged tissue and then sets the stage for tissue regeneration to begin. IMO, the unavoidable pain of inflammation is something that must be endured without interference from pain medications, if your body is to heal itself. On the upside, the pain of inflammation usually peaks in 24 to 48 hours and in a few days after it peaks, mild to no pain.

The Life Science Industry’s (LSI) global pain management (drugs) market is valued at well over 80 billion, as of 2024. The LSI has misrepresented pain (the most important signal our body gives to us for survival) by promoting it as a phobia for profit at our expense. The industry’s propaganda is a deliberate use of disinformation to spread messages that benefit the industry’s viewpoint about their pain relief products.

It manipulates our behavior by influencing how we feel and think. At present, we are unwittingly and willingly self-medicating without hesitation due to a growing addiction driven by the LSI’s persistent propaganda. Understanding that we don’t have to panic every time we experience pain in our lives, is going to be a very difficult thing to convince ourselves of.

Our increasing dependency on using pain relief medications for any discomfort makes the LSI’s propaganda easier to believe than the fantastical truths about our immune system’s relationship with pain.
